Third session of equity and inclusion training to focus on building diverse organizations

3/16/21 - Participants in the third of four diversity and inclusion training sessions hosted by the United Way of the Laurel Highlands will start to delve into putting what they have learned into action.

The session, funded by a Lee Initiatives grant, is set for 7 p.m. March 23 on Zoom.

In this session, participants will learn how to build diverse organizations. Mentoring, hiring and evaluation will be discussed. The key takeaway will be finding out what systems exist in organizations that may obstruct diversity and inclusion and how to create systems change.

Discussion will include the NFL’s “Rooney Rule” and its impact on the topic. What it means to be an equal opportunity employer will be examined.
This free, interactive workshop is taught by Dr. Melissa Marks from the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. To register, email admin@uwlaurel.org.
